I have been getting messages by text, email, and direct messages with strange links I need to go to see a pic or blog about me! Do not do it, there is a major phishing scam going on that has invaded some of my friends and contacts email and other types of media methods and is spamming this info to me. Check with the person who owns the ID the message supposedly came from and you will confirm the hoax. Unfortunately, if you go there and log in, they have just added you and all your contacts to the list so be warned, be careful and double check before taking a chance. Just another form of ID theft!!!
Heard from a little birdie that if you put in the wrong password first couple trys it will tell you if you are into the right site or not, hope that helps, makes sense to me.

Nice... another scam set up to cause all sorts of havc. Thanks for the heads up!
Jesse, you bet, my twitter friend just posted a blog about it on twitter http://activerain.com/blogsview/864992/Twitter-Phishing-Twalert
However it is coming through facebook, linkedin, text, and email messages too! Be very careful!!!
Another reason why the delete button is my best friend! Great reminder Steve.
Debbie, thanks for commenting and me too, have been changing the passwords on everything!!!
Steve, thanks for the insight. It's a hazard of being online. Hope you have a successful 2009.
Robin, thank you and may you have a great 2009 too!
So, if you click on the link, then you and all your contacts are added to WHAT list, and then what will happen?
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the post. You would be surprised how many times I hit the delete button during the course of a day. I don't open anything like that nor do I open andthing that has, "fwd" in the subject section.
Hi Steve - Thanks for the warning. It's amazing how many scams are out there and how many people are "reeled" in by them. And just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water!
Janna, they are a third party site that asks you to log in so they can get your twitter info and then use your account for their spamming and phishing expeditions.
Hal, you are smart, better safe than sorry, and do not depend on your anti-viral software too much, it will let you down, for sure.
Jon, it is incredible, but as long as we warn everyone else, without creating fear, we can avoid most of those sharks and still enjoy the water.
Great reminder. I'm thinking too, that if its something important, whoever sent it will let you know.
Thanks for the warning! I will be on guard! -S
I never log onto anyones website because it is far to dangerous.
If they would start REALLY punishing folks who do this kind of stuff...It would go down to almost zero. Slapping hands, making them go without internet for 30 days, and little baby fines isn't going to do it.
Chris and Karen, you are so right, why take the chance!
Stephanie, unfortunately, we have to be, we do not have to be afraid but we do need to stay sharp:)
Gene, you are kidding me right, I do online banking, credit cards, etc. and wonder how do you not?
Sherry, you are so right, cracking down now will save us all a ton of money and work in the long run!!
Steve - I haven't seen this...Thanks for the warning! Take Care! :)
Thanks so much for the reminder. Every once in a while I have a senior moment and click on something I shouldn't, we all need the reminder.
Debi, Chris & Karen, you are welcome and thanks for stopping by, have a great week!
Steve, I join everyone else in thanking you for bringing this to my attention. Has the new airport in Bransen opened yet?
Suzi, it is scheduled for May, 2009 and I have clients with Lear Jets that can't wait!!
Steve, I do not understand this, how does this work? BTW have you straightened out your own ID Theft problem?
Endre the title is what the subject of a message is that makes you want to go to the link attached which takes you to a phising site that entices you into giving out information about yourself. I have no idea why people get away with this type of stuff, never put in a correct password till you are sure if you are on a safe site not a fake site, and putting in a fake password first to see if it is accepted or not is what I have been told can help you determine that. Hope that helps, and yes, kind of, I have had to put a 7 year fraud protection system on my credit, basicallly freezing it's access through the credit services to help stop the fraud.
