Double E Burger & Ice Cream Shoppe is a family oriented place to eat on the way to Branson or Table Rock Lake between Highway 65 and Highway 160 on EE Highway in Highlandville, MO.
(Notice: the special on the marquis is Fried Bologna tomorrow, talk about down home cookin')
Earning a living in the construction business became very challenging in the past year or so and the Whitmire brothers, Kevin and Shannon, found a way to support their families in a new business. They recently opened a family owned, operated, and focused - Burger and Ice Cream local eatery that is just like the good old days where the whole family can enjoy themselves in a healthy environment.
Wives Cari and Donna take care of the serving and most other aspects of the growing business while the brothers cook and run the kitchen end of things. The food is excellent and the prices are family friendly too.

I had the taco salad special for lunch and would recommend it to anyone to try, it was only $5.99 and my wife tried the patty melt, and loved it too. Next time we are going to try to save room for some ice cream and we will be back, real soon!
Yes they have take-out to go orders too and this is a copy of their menu to go too!

Well Steve if they were closer I'd pay them a visit. Great job in promoting them and I wish them nothing but success. What a great move on their part. And next time just eat the ice cream first. :)
Tammy, sure wish you did come by so I could buy you a sundae, would give me an excuse to have one too, and that is a great idea, dessert first works for me!!!
Hi Steve,
looks like a nice old place to eat. What a pleasant throwback to a simpler time.
Tony, it is so retro but the incredible thing is, this is just who they are, no retro intended I don't think, we are just family oriented and focused in the Ozarks still, just like it has always been.
It is alway a pleasure seeing family businesses being succesful and attracting families. That fried Bologna for tomorrow on their menu certainly brought back some of my mom's cooking. What memories, once a week growing up, the meal would be fried Bologna with her home made baked beans. with molasses.
You sure know some good eatin from your childhood, hard to find that good ol' home cookin' these days so I guess that is what makes it seem so much more appetizing than it would without those fond memories bringing back the sights and smells of the past. Thanks for sharing with me!
Howdy there Steve
The Grand State of Missourah, sure does have some real fine family owned eatten places. I still remember a little ole Ice Cream shop, we would stop at when I was a kid. After going fishen in Peculiar. Up in Cass Counity. We where there the first time I herd Ring of Fire, by Johnnt Cash. You would order your Ice Cream, and eat it in your truck or car. Or just stand around talken with other folks there.
Dale, you and me both, love that fishin and ice cream. Sonic is still a lot like it used to be but seldom see any roller skates on the delivery people. Appreciate you stoppin by and leaving some of your memories and good humor (love that ice cream too) with me. Have a great summer!!!
Wow. Fried balogna! And ice cream. You'd be calling me 'two trips' in no time! Great restaurant article.
Hey 2 trips, when you coming on by? Hope you have a busy and enjoyable summer Susie!
Tasty food with good-sized portions, excellent customer service. Stopped there in 2/10; will go back next time we're in Mo.
